Do I Ever Cross Your Mind

When morning's light slices through the cobwebs
Strung inside your messed up head
From nights restless with images and thoughts
Of past and lifetimes ago you've led.
Do I be there ever?
Do I ever cross your mind?

When rain drops trickle down the window's glass
And for the thousandth time through the fog you stare
Waiting for clearness as thunder screams
Waiting for nothing, nothing is everywhere.
Do I be there ever?
Do I ever cross your mind?

When colors dance inside your eyes
As you follow from end to end
The rainbow left upon the broken sky
Like a giant bandage, its scars to mend.
Do I be there ever?
Do I ever cross your mind?

When midday rays of sun appear
And flood your face and life with light
Making visible again the good and beautiful
And starkness boldly showing things not done right.
Do I be there ever?
Do I ever cross your mind?

When stillness comes and too quiet brings
Evening shadows playing games upon the wall
Like hand puppets of familiar faces
You try to place them, to remember them all.
Do I be there ever?
Do I ever cross your mind?

When darkness comes and weariness forces
Another submission to yet another night
Of trying to sort through it all
As your body tosses, your mind again takes flight.
Do I be there ever?
Do I ever cross your mind?
