Somebodys Angel

I could see the glints of anger in your eyes
When you would look at me
Seeing just a burden, nothing to be had
And wishing you were free

Now anothers eyes gleam with love
Seeing something special to be had
Where you could never even try
Could it be I'm not so bad

You almost had me grounded
So low enough to die
Now I'm somebodys Angel
And I'm flying high

Sharp words could sting, bringing tears
When you would have something to say
No good for nothing, not worth your time
And you would be gone someday

Now anothers tender words soothe
Words of love fall softly on my ear
True and sincere and promising
There's nothing else to fear

You almost had me grounded
So low enough to die
Now I'm somebodys Angel
And I'm flying high

Cold arms once held me
Or put their marks upon my skin
Taking me or breaking me
Your patience with me thin

Now anothers warm arms
Hold me, close but tenderly
Caressing away the hurt tonight
And from now until eternity

You almost had me grounded
So low enough to die
Now I'm somebodys Angel
And I'm flying high
